Manchester City Star Striker Erling Haaland is on pace to break nearly every Premier League goal-scoring record. One of the biggest record, is the goal-scoring record in a season. The Premier League record for most goals in a season, is set at Alan Shearer’s 34 goals in a season, and Erling Haaland will break that with ease this year. Some might debate that the real record is 32 by Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, due to Shearer’s record being in 42 games instead of 38, but it does not matter; Erling Haaland will break it either way.
14 Goals In 8 Games
The biggest example of why Erling Haaland will break the record is the pace that he is currently on. With 14 goals in eight games, Erling Haaland is on pace to break the 34 goals a season mark around week 20, giving him an 18-week cushion in case anything happens.
In fact, if Erling Haaland continues on his 1.75 goals per game pace, he would actually break the English single-season goal-scoring record set by Dixie Dean at 60 back in 1927/28. He is not only the best goal scorer the premier league has seen, but he has a chance to be the best goal scorer anyone alive has ever seen play in England.
The Team Built Around Him
Another reason why he’ll easily break the record, is the team that is built around him. Manchester City are a dynasty, winning Last season’s Premier League title without a real striker on their team. They are a complete team, playing a beautiful brand of football under manager Pep Guardiola, and Haaland is the missing piece that have made them arguably the most dangerous side to ever play in the Premier League.
Haaland now has the privilege of playing with arguably the best midfielder in the world in Kevin De Bruyne, one of the best defensive sides on paper the league has ever seen, and an attack that will set him up for goals like no other striker has ever been afforded in the league in one of the richest teams in the world.
The World Cup
Another Advantage Haaland will have is the World Cup coming up. Haaland will be sitting out of the World Cup, as his Nation, Norway, did not qualify for the competition. However, that allows him to be as fresh and ready as any player after the tournament has settled.
Most players will see a gradual return to the form, as the tournament will have been grueling in Qatar. Haaland will not have to worry about any of those concerns and can heal up if there are any minor issues leading up to the tournament, ready to play just as he did at the beginning of this season. He will be able to achieve a rest period that is unique to this season and this season only.
